Olympia Contest Coverage Sponsored by BODYPRO Gym
Leading into the 2020 Olympia contest, we expected to see 17 Canadian athletes stepping on the Olympia stage. Unfortunately, with Quebec's Allison Ethier dropping out at the last minute, it left us with 16. We here at Muscle Insider have always believed the Fitness division is one of the most difficult categories in the entire Olympia lineup. Not only do these women need to bring a muscularity and conditioning like that of Figure, but they also must keep up their energy and stamina to be able to display the incredible athleticism required to perform a commanding fitness routine.
This year’s lineup was super exciting with Oksana Grishina returning from retirement to battle it out against the reigning Ms.Fitness Olympia Champion Whitney Jones. All predictions were pointing to one of these outstanding athletes taking home the title. Our Canadian shining star Missy Farrell-Truscott totally threw a wrench into any of those plans. With a physique and performance that swept through the competition like a storm, Missy became the 3rd Canadian to be crowned an Olympia Champion! This was a victory that almost never was because Missy had been announced as the runner-up during the medal ceremony! After Tyler Manion quickly recognized the error and had the judges verify the results, the bronze medal was returned from Missy and presented to Oksana. This led to Missy being awarded the gold medal, a cheque for $50,000 and the title of 2020 Ms. Fitness Olympia Champion.
Oksana Grishina 2nd Place
Most fans and bodybuilding analysts predicted that it would be the 4-time Ms. Fitness Olympia Champion Oksana Grishina that would walk away with the title. Oksana did not disappoint the crowd or judges in any way, but it was just no match for what Missy brought to the stage. With a transformer inspired fitness routine, Oksana entertained us all, just as we’d expect.
Whitney Jones 3rd Place
Whitney Jones also brought an energy-packed routine that wowed the audience, making the judges' decision extremely difficult. When the results were revealed, the two-time defending Olympia Champion, in the end, was awarded a 3rd place finish.
Ariel Khadr 4th Place
Ariel Khadr held her own on stage during prejudging and again in the evening rounds, going head to head against the powerhouse women mentioned above. In the end, Ariel was presented with the 4th place medal, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.
