A new bodybuilding season is approaching very quickly, and athletes are already starting preps with hopes of having their hands raised by promoters around the globe. The 2023 campaign is already underway for some divisions in the IFBB Pro League, while others are set to kick off within the next few weeks.
Canadian bodybuilding fans may wonder when they can see bodybuilding action in their part of the world. Look no further because Muscle Insider has the info you’re looking for. We’re going to give you a small preview of what is to come this year as athletes around the world look to qualify for the 2023 Olympia in Orlando, Florida this November.
Vancouver Island Showdown Pro
The first contest of the year will be held on April 23rd in Victoria, British Columbia with the Vancouver Island Showdown Pro. The main event of this contest will be Women’s Bodybuilding, and it serves as the first qualifier of the year for the Ms. Olympia. Corey Swiergosz is the promoter for this show, which will also have Women’s Physique and Wellness featured.
Toronto Pro Supershow
The largest show in Canada is the Toronto Pro, which has been a mainstay on the schedule for many years. The 2023 edition will take place on June 4th in Toronto, Ontario with both amateur and pro contests. 10 of the pro divisions will be showcased, with the only absence being in Fitness. Promoters Ron and Angie Hache will be handing out pro cards and Olympia qualifications at this contest.
Vancouver Pro
On July 14th through the 16th, the Vancouver Pro will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Promoter MIchelle Krack will host Men’s Open, Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Fitness, Figure, and Bikini. This has been a popular mid-summer show that has seen champions such as Fouad Abiad, Iain Valliere, and even our current Mr. Olympia, Hadi Choopan, who won the men’s open title in 2019.
Van City Showdown
The 212 athletes will have their own contest in BC for the second year in a row. The 2023 Van City Showdown will take place on September 30th in Burnaby, and this is another Corey Swiergosz show. The 2022 winner of this contest was Romain Ramassamy, who took his first pro win at this contest. This will be near the cutoff for 2023 Olympia qualifying, so the pressure will be on the contestants at this show because it may be win or go home.
